Read the question, Jane. We aren't debating whether the kid should go to reform school, rather whether he should have been suspended. Playing the part of ADVOCATE begins with being proactive to avoid conflict, which clearly didn't happen in this case. The parents KNEW how much he liked that knife, yet they didn't tell him it was wrong to take it to school? That's not the kind of advocate I would want.
Yes, he should be punished and let this be a lesson for any parent who isnt aware of school rules and lets their children bring a seemingly non dangerous "SWISS ARMY KNIFE" TO SCHOOL. GIVE ME A BREAK- JANE, IT IS A GREAT LESSON TO LEARN NOW BEFORE HE IS IN 3RD GRADE WHEN HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A SAK.
